Many people have not heard of Screendragon, but it is a tool that you should keep on your radar if you are looking for an online work management tool. It is a tool that we support and highly recommend for agencies looking to streamline their work management and process. Because of this, let’s take a few moments to discuss Screendragon and its features.
What is Screendragon?
According to the company website, “Screendragon is a leading project, resource and workflow management software firm specialized in the needs of today’s marketing, agency and professional services teams.” They do this by offering four distinct, yet connected products: sd_AgencyOS, sd_MarketingOS, sd_BrandHub, sd_ProServeOS. Each of these products are targeted towards specific customers and uses. However, when you dive in, the underlying approach is the same. For the purposes of this article, we will focus on sd_AgencyOS when discussing Screendragon.
As of August 2020, it has been listed among the leaders of work management based on usability and customer satisfaction.

There are several top features that help set it apart from others. Here are just a few:
Workflow Management
Many of the work management solutions on the market do not support true process and workflow. However, workflow is at the core of Screendragon. The workflow engine allow for automatic resource, project, budget, and task planning from an initial submission. Each of the process steps offer its own set of triggers and actions. We find this to be instrumental in enforcing controls and ensuring that users/teams are notified at the right time.

Customized Look & Feel
Screendragon offers a design team that will work with their clients to update the look and feel of their UI. The result is a unique interface that can match the branding of the company. We have found that they were very hands-on and responsive when requesting design updates.

Visual Collaboration and Ideation
As your team works together, it is important to have a shared space to collaborate. Not only does Screendragon offer that, but it makes it very easy to use and in real-time. This eliminates the need to onboard another software solution. It also allows for custom support methodologies such as SWOT and Agile. Our favorite feature happens to be the whiteboard and stick note features.

Data Management
A lot of tools on the market fail to address data-focused features such as tables, grids, repeating rows, and logic based data display. This is another area that Screendragon excels. Our stakeholders have found this to be one of highlights as they build out audience matrices and dropdowns. The attribute matrix allows for better controls around dropdown, checkbox, and radio buttons, thus eliminating arbitrary uniqueness.

One Suggestion for Screendragon
If there was any suggestion as to how to make Screendragon better, we recommend that it had better online support. While the support team is amazing and will quickly build out the solution, we would like there to be a bigger comprehensive library of support articles and tutorials. With this, there can also be learning paths for different roles such as a submitter, project manager, and system administrator. This would enable greater engagement and SME knowledge of the tool.
Final Thought
If you are looking for an online work management tool that is cost-effective and works with teams of all sizes, Screendragon is worth a look. We find their staff to be very responsive and helpful. As a smaller company based out of Ireland, they really focus on their clients and as seen on their website, the list of customers is growing. Their services are on par with other solutions we have worked with and we really like the workflow management component.
